Our Story
ubid-it was founded after one too many conversations with Orlando homeowners who had been handed wildly different quotes for the same bathroom renovation — sometimes varying by 40% or more — with no way to know which price was fair.
The root cause is structural: traditional platforms sell contractor leads, which means contractors price projects to recover both their lead cost and their margin. The homeowner pays for that overhead without knowing it. No transparency. No competition. No recourse.
We built ubid-it on a reverse-auction model specifically to dissolve that information asymmetry. A homeowner posts a project. Verified contractors compete on price and timeline. The homeowner compares every bid side by side and chooses the best value. The competitive format does what markets are supposed to do: it produces a fair price.
Why Orlando and Central Florida
We did not build a national marketplace and hope it would trickle down to Florida. We launched in Orlando because Central Florida is one of the most dynamic home improvement markets in the country — and because it has been underserved by platforms designed for coastal metros.

Every contractor is verified through the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation before bidding on a single project. Active licensure is re-confirmed on a rolling basis.
Insurance Verification
General liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage are required and verified before a contractor account is activated. Certificates are reviewed at renewal.
Secure Stripe Payments
All payments are processed through Stripe with milestone-based escrow. Funds are released to the contractor only after you confirm each milestone is complete.
Dispute Resolution
If a project goes sideways, our resolution team steps in. We mediate disputes, review documentation, and work toward a fair outcome for both homeowners and contractors.
